CBSE Board Results By July 31, Optional Exams To Be Held Between Aug15-Sept15

The CBSE has submitted before the apex court that the exams will be conducted between August 15 and September 15, depending on the COVID-19 pandemic situations.

CBSE Class 12 exams 2021: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday told the Supreme Court that it is planning to conduct optional or improvement board exams between August 15 to September 15. These will be conducted for students who are not satisfied with the evaluation criteria. The dates are tentative and depend on the COVID-19 pandemic situations.

The Supreme Court was hearing a case on the cancelation of class 12 board exams for students who would be appearing for compartmental exams, NIOS, and repeaters. In an affidavit, the board said that the exams will be conducted for the candidates who are not satisfied with his or her marks as per the assessment criteria of the board and wish to appear for written exams. It also said that the result for those students, whose marks would be computed in accordance with the assessment policy, will be declared by July 31, TOI reported.

Students who want to take the written exams will first have to register online. The facility regarding this examination will be offered online at CBSE’s official website - cbse.nic.in, where any student will be able to register for the optional exam online. Examinations will be conducted only in the main subjects as and when the conditions are conducive for holding the examinations, the CBSE said, reported Bar and Bench. The board also noted that the marks obtained by a candidate in this examination will be treated as final for those who opt to take the exam.

Earlier today, the apex court adjourned the hearing on CBSE class 12 evaluation criteria till tomorrow. The CBSE has already released a detailed assessment scheme to evaluate the class 12 students. For the evaluation, the board will give maximum weightage to the 12th exams that include pre-boards, unit tests or mid-terms. This will consist of 80 marks and will be the criterion for theory assessment only. The board has also allocated 20 marks to this section for the practical exams. Meanwhile, a section of students challenged CBSE, CISCE's decision to cancel physical exams for Class 12 students.
