The plea was heard by a division bench led by Justices N J Jamadar and S S Shinde. The commissioner is expected to submit a report of the case investigation on June 24.

What is the case?

The woman identified as a psychologist filed a petition in Bombay High Court in February this year. She claimed that she was being stalked and harassed by men who were allegedly acting on commands of Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut. She also accused her estranged husband to be behind this.

According to the lawyer representing the woman, Abha Singh told the court on Tuesday that the woman was put in jail after filing the petition in court. She has been accused of having a fake PhD degree.

Singh told the judges, "The petitioner has been in jail for ten days now. After she filed the petition in HC, the entire police machinery has been unleashed on her now. This is complete vindictiveness and mala fide action."

The court directed that the woman can file a separate plea to challenge her arrest and said,"We direct the Commissioner of Police to look into the grievances raised in the petition and take appropriate measures. "

The court added, "The Commissioner of Police shall respond to us and submit a report on June 24,” According to the TOI report, the woman has so far filed three complaints against her alleged stalkers between 2013 and 2018 but no action has been taken so far.

The petition was earlier heard in March this year, Prasad Shakephalkar who represented Sanjay Raut in the high court refuted the allegations and claimed that the petitioner is like a daughter to Sanjay Raut.
