The accused man has been identified as Pratik Salvi. The complainant claimed that she informed about the incident to MP Gopal Shetty and MLA Sunil Rane but they allegedly ignored her allegations. She has also accused Khedkar and other women workers of BJP of thrashing her after she approached the legislators over the matter.

The woman reportedly met the accused in July of 2020 and exchanged contact details and she began helping with part-related work. According to her statement, the alleged incident happened on 15 August last year at 6:30 p.m.

The statement said , “The accused called me to Khedkar’s office. He then shut the office and put off the lights. He then kept his hand on my thigh and shoulder and said I will have to compromise if I want to work in the party. I left from there and five days later complained orally to MLA Sunil Rane, but got no response. So, I gave a written complaint to Rane and MP Gopal Shetty,” according to a report by  Indian Express.

It was reported that the 53-year-old approached the police on Wednesday. An FIR has been filed under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.“We have registered the FIR and investigation is on,” said Sudhir Kalekar, senior inspector of Borivali police station.

Recently, as per reports, an FIR was registered against BJP leader Pravin Darekar for allegedly commenting a sexist remark that the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would "kiss any painted cheeks." The above comment was made at a recent event in the Shirur area in Marathi during an address. NCP’s Rupali Chakankar has alleged that the comments offended Maharashtrian women.

The BJP leader’s comments reportedly contained “objectionable references" to women. Since then, the women across the state have condemned these remarks.
