Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor requested Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena via a letter to suspend Swati Maliwal until the completion of a police inquiry of the alleged molestation case filed by her on January 19th, to prevent her from using the power of her position to influence the injury. It is found that the accused is a worker from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.

  Suspension Of Swati Maliwal: 10 Things To Know

  1. Swati Mahiwal, chief of the Delhi Commission for Women was allegedly molested and dragged by a drunk driver on early hours of January 19th. As per reports the accused dragged her by a car for 10-15 meters at around 3 am, opposite AIIMS gate number 2 in Delhi.
  2. The 47-year-old accused has been arrested and identified as Harish Chandra a resident of Sangam Vihar, Delhi who was completely intoxicated, when he approached the DWC chief. Recently it turned out that the accused was a member of (AAP) Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi.
  3. The police department took a written complaint from the DWC chief about the incident and both Mahiwal and the accused were sent for a medical examination.
  4. The case regarding the incident has been registered under Sections 341/323/509 of the Indian Penal Code and under the Motor Vehicles Act 185, later the case of molestation was filed too under section 345 of IPC.
  5. After the Incident the DWC chief tweeted about it, “Late last night I was inspecting the situation of women's security in Delhi. A car driver molested me in an inebriated condition and when I caught hold of him, he locked my hand in the car window and dragged me. God saved life. If the Chairperson of the Women's Commission is not safe in Delhi, then imagine the situation.' She even shared a &t=3s">video of the incident of being dragged through the streets which went viral on the internet.
  6. The police official gave a statement that a PCR call was received by their department at around 3.12 am, after which the police team along with the ACP, Hauz Khas, reached that spot at around 3.20 am and the accused was arrested.
  7. The spokesman of BJP urged the Lt Governor VK Saxena to suspend Swati Maliwal as the DCW chairperson until the inquiry of the alleged molestation case is concluded so that Ms Maliwal cannot "misuse her position" to influence the injury.
  8. Bharatiya Janta Party, on Friday, raised questions over Ms Maliwal's molestation allegation, because the person she accused is an Aam Aadmi Party member and her allegation was a  "drama" and a conspiracy that was "exposed".
  9. Delhi Bhartiya Janta Party’s working president Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the man, accused of harassing DWC chief, is actually an activist of the AAP in Sangam Vihar region.
  10. Mr. Sachdeva shared a picture in which the accused man can be seen campaigning with the MLA Prakash Jarwal from the AAP.
