The statement further added, "the daring and selfless Chinar Corps warriors walked through knee-deep snow and reached the elderly woman’s home. The warriors carried the elderly woman on their backs to minimise injury to her due to the mountainous nature of the tracks, the steep gradient involved, and the heavy snowfall conditions.

The elderly woman was swiftly shifted into an ambulance that was waiting at Paro, and she was taken to PHC, Boniyar.

"The local villagers appreciated the timely response by the Indian Army's Paro detachment and praised their gallant and humane efforts towards the local population," the statement added.

Evacuation from Jabri village during heavy snowfall is extremely dangerous and challenging, as the village is situated along a steep gradient.

Last week, the Indian Army airlifted a pregnant woman in critical condition from Jammu and Kashmir’s Karnah to Srinagar. Nasrat Begum, a Chitrakoot resident, was admitted to SDH Karnah after experiencing labour pains. Despite the efforts of the specialists, the threat to the life of the mother and unborn child could not be mitigated due to the limited medical facilities available.

As soon as assistance was requested, the Indian army promptly responded, and many soldiers came forward to donate blood to save the woman’s life. With the joint effort of the Indian army and the Indian air force, Nusrat Begam and another 10-month-old baby were successfully airlifted in a helicopter.
