Pakistani cricket team captain Bismah Maroof scored 50 runs against the Australian team on March 8, 2022, at the ongoing ODI World Cup. Maroof recently gave birth to daughter Fatima and returned to cricket after completing her maternity leave. This was her first 50 runs after becoming a mom, and to mark the occasion, Maroof made a cradle gesture to dedicate her half century to her daughter.

On the day when the world celebrated International Women's Day, Maroof took over the cricket field and internet with a simple gesture. Recently, she was in news when she arrived ahead of the India-Pakistan match with her daughter in her arms. Later, a video of Indian cricketers competing to get her daughter Fatima's attention while she remains wrapped around her mother had gone viral. This heartwarming video had people sending love to the way women in cricket brought joy in a scenario where there exists a lot of tension whenever India and Pakistan face each other on the cricket field.

Bismah Maroof Cradle Gesture

Yesterday, Maroof was once again applauded for her gesture of love to her daughter and making a statement at the same time. She also shared a picture of her daughter watching her play, writing, "It would have been great to have a win on #WomensDay but I want to tell all women, especially little girls around the globe today: you are powerful, amazing & can pursue any dreams, no matter what. P.S thanks for all the love & prayers for me & my Fatima (emoji) #blessed."

Maroof gave birth to Fatima last year in August and returned to international cricket as per the policy of the Pakistan Cricket Board, which provides 12 months paid maternity leave and a guaranteed extension of the contract.

Despite Maroof's unbeaten 78 runs in the match, Australia won by seven-wicket, leading to a consecutive loss to team Pakistan at the ICC World Cup tournament. Pakistan's team batted first and got a score of 190 and six wickets down in 50 overs. Maroof was the top run-getter.
