Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) , a state-owned engineering firm announced on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 that Renuka Gera will be assuming the charge as the Director (Industrial Systems & Products). She has been appointed on the board of BHEL.
Gera has replaced S Balakrishnan. According to a company statement, on November 30, 2020, he stopped to be the Director on the Board of BHEL as he had attained a certain age of superannuation (an organisational pension program which is created for the benefits of the employees).

BHEL took to Twitter to announce this news. They tweeted,"Ms. Renuka Gera appointed Director (Industrial Systems & Products), BHEL."

Who Is Renuka Gera?
Before she was appointed to the top position, Renuka Gera was the Executive Director of the BHEL’s Industry Sector business segment. She started her career with BHEL as an engineer trainee in the year 1984. Gera has been appointed from December 1, 2020 till the date of her superannuation which is August 31, 2023 or until there are any further orders, whichever happens earlier.
Earlier she worked in the company’s Transmission Business Group. The 57-year-old woman is an Electronics and Communication engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering.

She has more than 36 years of hands-on experience in several areas of the industry sector. Gera had headed verticals such as Marketing, Engineering, Business Development, HR, Contract & Project Management, Administration, Planning, Finance and Legal, apart from serving in BHEL’s Bhopal manufacturing unit for close to five years. She has also been the Project Manager of one of the largest HVDC multi-terminal projects in India.
Gera had also been sponsored by the BHEL for an International Certification Programme in Business Management. It was conducted under the aegis of the Department of Public Enterprises.
