Mamata Banerjee Bankura rally: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, addressing a rally in Bankura on Tuesday, referring to her multiple injuries sustained last week said, “an injured tigress is more dangerous.” Launching an attack on the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whom her party has accused of being behind the alleged attack on her in Nandigram, Banerjee questioned whether there was a “conspiracy” to kill her.
“Is the BJP hatching conspiracy to kill me? They (Election Commission) have even removed my director, security,” she said in connection to IPS Vivek Sahay being suspended by the EC. He has reportedly been penalised for “grossly failing in the discharge of his primary duty” to protect Banerjee, who is a Z+ protectee.
Mamata Banerjee Bankura Rally Address Takes A Hit At BJP
“If BJP comes to power, you will lose all your rights, all banks will close… Narendra Modi did not help [the state] with a single rupee during the Covid [crisis],” the wheelchair-bound Chief Minister said.
An injured tigress is more dangerous. I will play with one leg only with the support of the two legs of my daughters and mothers: Mamata Banerjee Bankura rally address
On March 10, Banerjee was allegedly pushed by a crowd of people in Nandigram, where she visited to file her nomination for the constituency. The ‘attack’ led to multiple injuries on her neck and legs, for which she sought treatment at a Kolkata hospital for two days.
TMC leaders submitted a report on the Nandigram incident, demanding a high-level probe into the matter. The EC found the report to be “sketchy,” and has asked the Bengal government to provide more details on the matter. More here.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has responded to claims of BJP perpetrating the attack, saying, “The reports of probe agencies and observers state that the accident occurred due to security lapses… it’s a result of her desperation that she is accusing BJP for her injury. I hope she recovers soon.”
