"I was listening to her full time. She was pushing me: 'believe in myself', 'you can do it', 'just stay calm and handle the situation'," Das said in an interview. He also added that she is world number one and it is his privilege to have his wife play in the Tokyo Olympics. Her presence is a great support and motivation for him, he believes. However, the duo is not staying together at the Games village. "I stay with the men's team. She stays separately in the Village, but most of the time we are together," he informed.

He was a bit upset as he was denied the chance to play the mixed team event with his wife Deepika Kumari.

The duo has been together since 2017 but didn't talk about their relationship openly. They made it public around their engagement in December (2018) and got married on June 30 in a quiet ceremony. Interestingly, the duo is the first Indian couple to take part in the same discipline in an Olympic Games.

This is not the first time when he has credited his wife for his archery success. In April this year, he won the the World Cup Stage 1 and mentioned that his wife was behind his success. "It’s Deepika who has played the most part in my first gold medal”. Read more about their love story.
