Here's What You Should Know About Jalgaon Hostel Incident
Jalgaon Hostel: Women residing in a Jalgaon hostel were allegedly forced to strip and dance by the police on Monday.

This issue was brought up by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shweta Mahale on Wednesday in the Maharashtra assembly. She also alleged that the video of the entire incident was recorded by the accused and further claimed that the police officials were involved in the horror.

Here Are 10 Things To Know About The Jalgaon hostel incident:

  1. On March 1, several women from the Ashadeep Women's Hostel in Jalgaon Maharashtra were allegedly made to strip and dance by a few men and police personnel.
  2. The Department of Women and Child Welfare are responsible for running the hostel and provide food and shelter to its inmates.
  3. An NGO from the area lodged a complaint against the alleged offence with Abhijit Raut, the District Collector on March 2.
  4. Some reports claim that the outsiders and the police were permitted to enter the hostel premises on the pretext of carrying out some investigation. The girls from the hostel had complained about this.
  5. Presidents of the Jananayak Foundation Feroz Pinjari, Farid Khan and Managala Sonawane spoke to the girls and women in the hostel to get information regarding the incident. Many of them said that they were beaten up and threatened for not obeying the demands of the miscreants.
  6. A video of the entire incident has also been released.
  7. BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar lashed out at the Maharashtra government and said that it was not serious about the horrific incident.
  8. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said,  “Our expectation is that you take immediate action sensitively."
  9. Anil Deshmukh, the home minister of Maharashtra said that a four-member committee has been formed to probe into the matter, and submit a report within the next two days.
  10. Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur also had something to say about the Jalgaon hostel incident. “I have not seen the video. But I assure you that nobody will be spared, strict action will be taken. The Home Minister has ordered a probe and I am personally looking into it too,” she said.
