Dhamecha, Khan and Arbaz Merchant were arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau last week after they raided a party going on a cruise ship. The agency recovered drugs at the location. Metropolitan Magistrate RM Nerlikar heard the bail plea and rejected it by saying that the forum chosen to seek bail was incorrect.

Khan's legal representative Satish Maneshinde argued for bail as he told the court that his client belongs to a respectable family with roots in the society and won't run away. He also cited past judgments making a case for Aryan Khan.

The NCB suspected that Aryan Khan can tamper with the evidence if released on bail, Maneshinde objected to the remark and said just because a person belongs to an affluent family does not mean he is likely to tamper evidence. He said, "There are people roaming streets with much more serious offences." He argued that no drug was found in possession of Aryan Khan and he was arrested on the basis of WhatsApp chats.

The NCB had asked for further remand of Khan and others in order to investigate the case but the court denied their plea and sent the accused persons to judicial custody of 14 days. After the raid of Saturday, Khan was detained by NCB and later arrested on Sunday.

All the persons arrested in the cruise ship drug case are booked under sections 20B, 27 (35), 8C of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Susbtances (NDPS) Act of 1985. The NCB officials claimed to have recovered 21 gm of charas, 13 gm of cocaine, 5 gm MD, cash worth ₹1.33 lakh and 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy) from the cruise ship.
