A man sets girlfriend on fire after she asked him to marry her, according to reports. The crime was discovered early morning on Friday after the Vizianagaram police received a Disha SOS stating a woman is set on fire.

After the police reached the crime scene, they realised that the woman was not the only person who was set on fire. Along with her, there were two others including a child. After investigation, the police officials found out that the miscreant had allegedly poured petrol on three persons and set them on fire. The three of them had suffered severe burns.

The accused is identified as Rambabu who is a 24-year-old man from Chowduwada, Andhra Pradesh. He was reportedly in a relationship with 21-year-old Ramulamma. The accused had agreed to marry her initially but after some time had started ignoring her, according to reports. After Ramulamma asked him to marry her, the accused allegedly poured petrol over her and her family who were sleeping outside in Chouduwada village and set them ablaze on Friday morning.

The police rushed the three persons to the local hospital. From there, the woman was shifted to Vishakapatnam for better treatment. The woman was shifted under the Chief Minister's orders after he inquired about the case. The accused is arrested and is being sent to judicial remand soon.

The Chief Minister Office released a statement regarding the case and said, "CM has inquired about the incident by speaking to the officials and directed the officials to shift the victims to higher centre in Vishakapatnam for better treatment. CM also directed officials to initiate stern action on the accused. " Nara Lokesh who is the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader blamed the Andhra Pradesh government for the incident.
