Anahat Singh Becomes India's First Teenager To Win US Open Squash Meet

Anahat's life has been difficult due to the fact that she must balance her studies and sports. To stay at the top of the rankings, she had to work extremely hard to win the superseries titles and perform at the highest level at the British Open. More talent like her should be encouraged.

The prestigious US Junior Squash Open was won by Anahat Singh, a 13-year-old from Delhi. Anahata is the first Indian woman to win this tournament.  She beat Egypt's Zaida Marei in the girls' under-15 category.

Anahat Singh, an Indian teenager, made history on the 22nd of December by winning the prestigious Junior US Open Squash tournament in Philadelphia in the U-15 girl’s category. At the Arlen Spectre Centre, the 13-year-old Delhi girl defeated Egypt's Jayda Marei in the final match, her and her opponent’s points were 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5.

In the semifinals of the tournament, she defeated US national champion Dixon Hill 11-8, 11-9, 11-5.

Over 850 squash junior players from 41 countries competed in the world's largest junior individual squash tournament. Singh's semi-final victory over USA's junior national champion Dixon Hill in straight games was the match's main highlight. Singh got the title within only 32 minutes.

Anahat started playing squash when she was eight years old, and within a few years, she was ranked first in the country in the U 11 category. She has won 40 national titles, two national championships, and six internationals to date. She is currently ranked first in Europe, Asia, and India in the Girls U 13 category. In 2019, she won gold at the prestigious British Junior Open, silver at the British Junior Open 2020, and bronze at the Asian Junior Championships. She was also featured in the Paris 2024 Squash Olympic Promotion Video.
