The Allahabad Court denied bail to a man on August 25 who is accused of forcing minors into prostitution and raping them. The Bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh stated during the hearing of the case, "The daughters are pride and honour of the family... The sudden disappearance of girls and their remaining untraced for a long period of time causes trauma to their families."
Singh stated that people who are involved in immoral trafficking activities also cause an unhealthy effect on society as a whole and that they are hazardous to the civilised society. In accordance with the same, Singh also declared that persons involved in such activities are not entitled to any sympathy in the criminal justice delivery system.
Allahabad HC On Sex Racket
The accused was caught by the police from a guest house where they were allegedly carrying out the racket along with other co-accused persons. According to reports, several minors were also rescued at that time from the guest room.
The survivors also accused the booked persons of specific immoral activities. One of the survivors filed a complaint under Section 161 Cr.P.C. also levelled the allegation of making forceful sexual intercourse on her.
Few of the accused, identified as Dayal, Sumit, Akash (applicant) and Rizwan, were accused of compelling the survivors into prostitution by threatening them.
While passing the verdict in the case, the court observed that in the majority of prostitution cases, innocent girls get involved in the sex trade fraudulently against their wishes. This creates an atmosphere of terror by the antisocial elements and on account of their high connections, influences, money and muscle power, the court ruled.
The court also said that daughters are the 'pride and honour' of the family and their disappearance can cause pain and trauma to their families throughout.
