Bollywood star Alia Bhatt turns 25 today (March 15). The “Student of the Year” actor has completed five fantastic years in Bollywood.

Considered to be one of the versatile actors in Bollywood, Alia has played an array of characters–from a glam doll in her maiden film to a tortured soul in Udta Punjab. Here are some great performances by the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan:

  • Student of the Year – After the Karan Johar-directed Student of the Year, Alia was typecast as the diva or the glam doll of Bollywood. However, the actor not only bagged serious roles, but excelled at them.
  • Dear Zindagi – Her performance as Kaira was overwhelming. An emotionally disturbed girl who seeks the help of a psychologist, Alia Bhatt’s performance makes Dear Zindagi watchable. Despite working in the shadow of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, she did a brilliant job.
  • Highway – Alia was only 20 when she gave a power-packed performance as Veera in Highway. It was hard to imagine the diva of Student of the Year to play the role of trafficked girl in Highway.

Alia was highly appreciated for her performance in Highway. She actually went without makeup for the role and won a million hearts

  • Udta Punjab– After Highway, Alia again proved her mettle in Udta Punjab. She plays the role of a hockey player who gets dragged into the world of drugs.
  • Badrinath ki Dulhania – In Badrinath ki Dulhaniya, Alia played the character of Vaidehi, a career-oriented girl. She was again paired with her SOTY co-star Varun Dhawan in this film. Her character was bold and she was much loved for her performance in the movie.
  • 2 States – The movie, based on Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name, was a superhit. The Tamil girl Alia played in the movie makes the book’s character come alive.
  • Kapoor & Sons – Though it was not her movie completely, Alia made sure that her performance doesn’t go unnoticed. The groovy ‘Kar Gayi Chull’ number featured on Alia is one the best loved songs of the Bollywood star.

Here’s wishing Alia a very happy birthday and many more powerful performances!
