Alec Baldwin has quit Twitter after the controversy about her wife, Hilaria Baldwin's nationality. The actor posted a tweet that can be perceived as his last one at least for some time to come. He wrote, "Twitter is like a party where everyone is screaming. Not much of a party."

"Goodbye for now," he added.

In the last month of 2020, fitness coach and lifestyle influencer Hilaria Baldwin was accused of pretending to have Spanish origins by the netizens. When users on social media found out that Hilaria was born in Boston, USA and still has a Spanish accent, it sparked outrage and a massive meme fest on the social media platform. Hilaria then admitted that her real name is Hillary and that she was born in Boston. She also revealed later that her family had spent many years in Spain so she identifies with the Spanish culture. She had said, "I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a boundary."

A viral post from a social media user who claimed to be Hillaria's school mate claimed that Hilaria was known as Hillary earlier and that she didn't have the Spanish accent. Hilaria responded to the accusations on social media via a video in which she tried to explain the reason behind her Spanish identity. She said, "I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain."

She added, "My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the USA… We celebrate both cultures in our home. Alec and I are raising our children bilingual, just as I was raised"

Alec Baldwin who was seen defending his wife amidst all this seems to have decided to not engage with the controversy anymore by quitting Twitter.
