As per reports, about 70 Afghan Sikhs could not board the evacuation flight as they were stopped by the Taliban. A group had been waiting for the flight for long but they were instead sent to Gurudwara Singh Saha Karte Parwan in Kabul, World Punjabi Organisation member was quoted saying.

MP Anarkali Kaur Honaryar thanked the Prime Minister of India for bringing carrying out evacuations at the Kabul aiport. Honaryar gave her account of the situation at Kabul airport. She said that many civilians are not able to board evacuation flights as they lack travel documents.

"Many people in Afghanistan don't have travel documents. We had to wait from 12 midnight to 10 am in the hot weather. There were incidents of firing around the airport every day. 3-4 people died daily, " she said.

Honaryar added, "20 years ago, Taliban used to think that Sikhs & Hindus were not entitled to any rights as they're not Muslim. When a Taliban spox addressed media for first time, he didn't mention Sikhs & Hindus. It is uncertain whether they'll have any rights in future."

Earlier there were media reports about Sikhs ad Hindus being abducted by the Taliban, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa refuted them. He said that the ones who have taken shelter in the Gurdwara Karte Parwan are totally safe. He claimed that the Sikhs and Hindus are in touch."Later, the Taliban fighters said as we were Afghan nationals, we can’t board the flight that was meant for Indians," he said.

As per reports, over 300 Sikhs and Hindus are currently taking shelter at the Kabul Gurudwara fearing the Taliban. They have offered shelter by India and Canada and are waiting to be evacuated.
