Kannada Actor Jayanthi: Senior actor from the Kannada Industry Jayanthi passed away on Monday. She lived in Bengaluru and passed away due to age-related issues. She was 76.
A veteran of the southern film industry Abhinaya Sharade Jayanthi breathed her last on Monday in her Bengaluru home. She made her acting debut in 1963 with the Kannada movie Jenu Goodu. She has acted in more than 500 movies and often called Abhinaya Sharadhe or the 'goddess of acting". Jayanthi has acted in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam film industries.
The actor's son Krishna Kumar confirmed the news of her death to Bangalore Times.

The actor reportedly passed away in her sleep and was keeping unwell for past few days.
Jayanthi is one of the rare actors in the down South to feature in the films of major superstars such as NT Ramarao, MG Ramachandra, Raj Kumar and Rajinikanth, etc.
In 2005, she was honoured with the Dr Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award. Jayanthi won the Karnataka State Film Awards seven times and the Filmfare Awards twice.
