Kho-Kho (Amazon Prime Video)

Kho-Kho is an inspirational, coming to age sports drama. The movie is directed by Rahul Riji Nair and stars Rajisha Vijayan, Venkitesh VP and Mamitha Baiju as the lead actors. The story revolves around the unglamorous and forgotten sport of Kho Kho that somehow gets catapulted to the Indian National Games. Kho Kho forms the backdrop for the narrative that tells the story of the main character Maria Francis from Thiruvananthapuram who missed her chance to be a part of the national team because of unexpected and unfortunate obstacles. 

The movie encapsulates girl power in an unprecedented way and is a remarkable representation of Malayalam Cinema.

Nizhal (Amazon Prime Video)

Appu N Bhattathiri’s Nizhal is an Indian mystery thriller that released on Amazon Prime Video in May 2021. The movie stars prominent names from the Malayalam film industry such as Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara in the lead roles and features Rony David, Izin Hash, Divya Prabha and Saiju Kurup in supporting roles. Chathur Mukham (ZEE5)

The movie deals with the theme of social media addiction where it becomes severe and life-controlling. The movie stars Manju Warrier in the lead. Chathur Mukham is a techno horror film, which has been an uncovered premise in the Malayalam Film industry up till now. Directed by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar, the movie includes actors sunny Wayne and Alencier in supporting roles.

Nayattu (Netflix)

The movie revolves around three police officers who run for their lives after they are framed amidst political elections. A report by TechRadar stated that Nayattu is a big winner on the Indian OTT platform as it "successfully garnered the attention of its audience."

Directed by Martin Prakkat from Shahi Kabir’s script and stars Kunchako Boban, Joju George, Jaffar Idukki, Anil Nedumangad, Nimisha Sajayan and Harikrishnan. Nayattu has been critically appraised and is considered among the best releases of 2021.  The movie is available on Netflix.

One (Netflix)

One is a Malayalam political drama that premiered on Netflix in April 2021. The film stars MammoottyJoju GeorgeMurali Gopy, SiddiqueMathew Thomas, Nimisha Sajayan, Gayatri Arun and Ishaani Krishna in lead roles. The story discusses the themes of politics and ideologies and tells the crippling tales of morality and societal demands.  According to a report by Republicworld, One has crossed the prestigious 25-Crore mark.
