Aarya Emmy Nomination: The International Emmy Awards 2021 came out with its nominations list on Thursday and Indians found decent representation. Sushmita Sen starrer Aarya, Vir Das' comedy special and Nawazzuddin Siddiqui made it to the list.
While the Sen's Aarya has been nominated in the Best Drama Series category, Vir Das has been nominated in the comedy section for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India. Starring in Serious Men, Nawazzuddin Siddiqui got nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category.
Speaking on the nomination, Vir Das said, “I am so honoured to be nominated, but I am just so happy it’s for a show about my culture, and my people and how funny we are. The special was my love letter to India and this is just unbelievable.”
The series featuring Sushmita Sen in lead role, Aarya was released in 2020. It was created by Created by Ram Madhvani. The show followed Sen's character who was trying to save her family after the murder of her husband. The show's second season is also going to come out sometime this year as the shooting schedule wrapped recently. The film also featured actor Namit Das in a pivotal role. Apparently, he was the one to break the news of Aarya's nomination on Twitter. Sen retweeted his post and wrote, "You broke the news...you Rockstar @dasnamit. Congratulations sweetheart sp happy!!#GoGoGo #Aarya I love you!!"
Directed by Sudhir Mehra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui featured in Serious Men. The film is based on a book of the same name by Manu Joseph. It received positive reviews by many.
