The Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party president Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that his party will give a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to each women in Punjab if they win the assembly elections of 2022.
While addressing a public meeting in Moga on Monday, Kejriwal said, “Today I want to make an announcement. Aam Aadmi Party will form the government in Punjab. We will transfer Rs 1,000 every month into the accounts of every woman who is more than 18 years old in the state.”

He said that the elderly women who already part of the state’s pension schemes will continue to get their pensions in addition to the one thousand rupees. Kejriwal made the announcement on the first day of his two-day visit to Punjab. In the last assembly poles of the state, AAP had come out as the principal opposition party. The party head has also promised to give up to 300 units of free electricity to each household in Punjab the people of the state vote them to power. The AAP has also promised the people of Punjab round-the-clock electricity supply and free treatment and medicines at state-run hospitals if voted to power. The subject of electricity is the pressing subject in the state which repeatedly faces widespread power cuts.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who is of Bhartiya Janta Party, recently repealed the three controversial farm laws. While his announcement brought celebrations at protest sites where the farmers had been braving every weather since last year, it was also viewed as a poll strategy in the light upcoming elections in Punjab. After Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab are the two states with the highest number agricultural workers.
Captain Amrinder Singh, the former Chief Minister of Punjab also made an announcement recently. He said that he will be contesting the elections from Patiala constituency. It is the same assembly seat where Sing won four times in the past. His wife had also represented Patiala from 2014 to 2017. The Mayor of Patiala has also showed his support for Captain Amrinder Singh. This is the first time he will be running for the assembly seat after forming a new party.
