Television Actor Kamya Punjabi Joins Congress In Mumbai

The Congress leader Tehseen Poonawalla extended congratulations to the actor and said that Kamya Punjabi joined the Congress 'grand old party' because she was inspired by Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi.

Actor Kamya Punjabi joined Indian National Congress Party in the presence of Mumbai Congress President Bhai Jagtap and leader Tehseen Poonawalla on Wednesday.

As per reports, the actor started her stint as a politician and became part of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee in Mumbai at around 2 pm. The official Twitter handle of the Mumbai Congress gave the confirmation. The post read, "Indian Television Industry actress Smt @iamkamyapunjabi today in presence of Mumbai Congress President Shri @BhaiJagtap1 Joined @INCIndia, We welcome her in Congress party."

The Congress leader Tehseen Poonawalla extended congratulations to the actor and said that Kamya Punjabi joined the Congress 'grand old party' because she was inspired by Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi.

He tweeted, "Best wishes to @iamkamyapunjabi as she joins the @INCMumbai family today. Inspired by Smt Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ji & under the leadership of Smt Sonia Gandhiji & Shri Rahul Gandhiji, I know Kamya will serve the citizens. She is fortunate to have @BhaiJagtap1 as her president."

The news about Punjabi joining Congress was first confirmed by Congress member Aditya Goswami who tweeted about it. He wrote, "Renowned television Actress and former Bigg Boss contestant @iamkamyapunjabi will be joining Congress. She has been very vocal about social issues and is actively supporting Shri Rahul Gandhi and Smt Priyanka Gandhi."

Kamya Punjabi has been seen in multiple television dramas over the years. Recently, she participated in Bigg Boss season 7. As per reports, she will be seen in the upcoming episodes of the television drama Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.
