90-Year-Old Woman Raped And Assaulted By A Plumber In Delhi

A 90-year-old woman was reportedly raped and assaulted in Delhi's Nazafgarh area, according to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). As per PTI, the accused has been identified as Sonu, a 37-year-old resident from Rewla Khanpur Village,  who works as a plumber in Delhi.

According to a statement issued by DCW the incident happened at 5 pm on Tuesday. While the woman was waiting for her milkman in the evening, "the accused came and told her that her regular milk delivery man wasn’t available today and he will take her to the place where she could get milk. He took the lady to a farm instead and raped her."

What You Should Know

• A 90-year-old woman was allegedly raped in Delhi's Chhawla, Nazafgarh area.
• Delhi Police has arrested the accused and an FIR has been registered against him.
• The woman also alleged that the man took her to a farm and raped her.

The DCW statement also said that the survivor,"kept crying and pleading that she was of his grandmother’s age. The perpetrator assaulted her brutally when she tried to resist him and raped her.”  When local villagers heard her screaming for help, they came to rescue the elderly, who has been badly injured in the assault. Calling it an “extremely disturbing” case, the DCW later clarified that the eye-witnesses caught the accused and called the police and the survivor's son. A medical examination of the survivor revealed several injuries and bruises on her body.
