Easy Mexican Hot Chocolate Recipe

  1. In a pan, add 3 cups of whole milk and 3 tbsp crushed cinnamon sticks and put the pan on medium flame.
  2. Simmer the milk, don't boil, while whisking occasionally for 10 minutes.
  3. Now add 170 gm of semisweet Mexican chocolate (chopped) , 3 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper, 3/4 tsp vanilla extract and a pinch of kosher salt.
  4. Whisk the ingredients constantly until it becomes smooth and cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in a mug and serve with whipped cream garnish.

Mexican hot chocolate recipes are made by using traditional wooden whisk known as molinillo.
