Simran Singh, a 25-year-old Instagram influencer and freelance radio jockey, was found dead in her apartment in Gurugram’s Sector 47, according to police reports shared by Press Trust of India on Thursday, December 26.

Originally from Jammu and Kashmir, Simran was a rising social media star with nearly 700,000 followers on Instagram. Known affectionately as "Jammu Ki Dhadkan" (Heartbeat of Jammu), Simran’s vibrant presence and relatable content endeared her to fans across the region.
The tragic discovery was made by a friend who had been staying with Simran. The friend immediately alerted the police. Authorities suspect it to be a case of suicide, though further investigation is underway. Simran’s body has been handed over to her family.

Following the announcement of her tragic passing, fans flocked to RJ Simran's Instagram page, leaving heartfelt comments filled with grief and disbelief. Her last post, shared on December 13, featured a video of her enjoying a moment at the beach. Dressed in a flowing peach gown, she was seen twirling and laughing, radiating joy. The post was captioned, “Just a girl with endless giggles and her gown, taking over the beach.”
The news of Simran’s untimely demise has left her followers and admirers in shock. Prominent figures from Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressed deep sorrow over her passing.
In an official statement shared on the JKNC's social media, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely demise of Simran Singh, popularly known as RJ Simran, lovingly referred to as ‘Jammu ki Dhadkan.’ Her voice and charm reflected the spirit of Jammu and Kashmir, and her contributions to the cultural fabric of our region will always be remembered.”
They extended their condolences to Simran’s family, friends, and fans, praying for strength and peace during this difficult time. “Her passing is an unimaginable loss, and we hope her loved ones find solace in the memories she created,” they added.
