South Korean singer Kim So-Jung, also known as Sowon is the leader of the GFriend, a six-member South Korean girl group formed by the Source Music in 2015.

Born on December 5, 1995, in Seoul, South Korea, becoming a K-pop idol had been Kim’s childhood dream.  Starting in 2010, Kim trained at DSP Media for four years and later moved to Source Music and trained for another year-and-half before debuting in GFriend. She graduated from the Hanlim Multi Arts High School in January 2014, and is presently majoring in Visual Media and Acting at Sungshin Women’s University.

  1. Sowon, Kim So-Jung's stage name means “wish” in Korean.
  2. Kim So-Jung aka Sowon leads the GFriend group. She said it took a while to adjust for the role as she is the youngest in her family.
  3. Sowon took part in cheerleading in her student-life days. She has also trained for five years before debuting in the GFriend.
  4. She has worked as a trainee in DSP media. Additionally, she also trained with KARD members. (A Korean a co-ed group consisting of four members.)
  5. Reportedly, Sowon is said to have the longest legs among all the female idols of her group.
  6. She can speak both Korean and Japanese.
  7. Sowon had won a Beauty Icon Award in First Brand Award 2019.
