Filmmaker Vignesh Shivan released the trailer of the film Netrikann on Thursday. The film stars his Nayanthara as Durga. She would be playing the role of a visually impaired girl who becomes a witness in a crime. The killer who crosses the path with Durga underestimates her ability to defend herself.
The producer of the film Vignesh Shivan spoke about the film and said, "The film is centred around a unique and resilient woman, portrayed by Nayanthara with such elan. As a visually impaired woman, she uses her senses to the best of her abilities to track down a serial killer and uncover hidden truths. The film is unconventional and thrilling – audiences who enjoy bold content will love Netrikann." It is directed by Milind Rau. Shivan also called Rau the "Picasso" of the film.

Release Date
The thriller film is going to be releasing on an OTT platform on August 13. Shivan also added about the film, "Netrikann is special because of the central character who is a visually impaired and uses sheer intelligence and presence of mind to confront a deadly serial kidnapper."

The film is going to be released on Disney + Hotstar. Apart from Tamil, the film will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Shivan added that Tamil audiences love a good thriller. He also mentioned that he wanted to create a film which was unlike the genres of Tamil. The film was slated for a theatrical release. However due to the COVID-19 restrictions the makers decided to release it on OTT directly.
