The film is directed by Milind Rau and produced by Nayanthara’s boyfriend Vignesh Shivan. The trailer also confirmed that the murder mystery will premiere worldwide on August 13.

Filmmaker Shivan unveiled the trailer of his latest production venture and wrote, "If creating thrillers is an Art!" He went on to praise director Rau and stressed that this is one of Nayanthara’s best performances to date.

Giving out the vibe of the Hollywood hit Don’t Breathe, as per the trailer, Nayanthara, who is visually impaired, witnesses a murder case the police department is investigating. Ajmal Ameer plays the antagonist in the film and he is targeting young women in Chennai city.

The trailer shows intriguing high-octane action and drama playing out between both the characters. As per reports, Netrikann is loosely inspired by the Korean thriller Blind which tells the story of a visually impaired woman who testifies for a hit-and-run case.

Going by the visuals, Nayanthara crosses paths with the serial killer and the rest of the story is about their encounter where he underestimates her ability to defend herself due to her visual impairment but the film is certainly centred around a "unique and resilient woman" who fights back.

She uses her "senses to the best of her abilities to track down a serial killer", said Shivan, who called Milind Rau, the “Picasso” of thriller movies. Will she be able to uncover the hidden truths? That can only be revealed on August 13 when the film gets an OTT release.

Rau is best known for his Tamil horror-thriller Aval. He said that along with the unexpected twists in the storyline, Nayanthara's portrayal of a character who can’t see makes Netrikann a must-watch. Read who is Nayanthara here.

The film is releasing originally in Tamil and will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
