The YRF Spy Universe, known for its thrilling lineup, is set to release its highly anticipated film, War 2, following the success of Tiger 3 featuring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi. The spy-thriller, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has already begun production, with the initial schedule wrapped up in Spain, sans the lead actors.
War 2 was officially announced through a glimpse of Hrithik Roshan's character in a post-credits scene from Tiger 3. In the post-credits scene, Colonel Sunil Luthra, played by Ashutosh Rana, informs Roshan's character, Kabir, about a new threat. His dialogue hints at the imminent danger and the immense challenge Kabir must face from the antagonist's role but without introducing Jr NTR.
Reports also suggest that Kiara Advani is joining the War franchise alongside Jr NTR and Roshan. However, Yash Raj Films is yet to confirm this addition. The excitement surrounding the film heightened as the release date was finalised.
War 2 Release Date
According to renowned trade analyst Taran Adarsh's tweet on X (former Twitter), War 2 is scheduled for an Independence Day 2025 weekend release. He shared, "BreakingNews… YRF ANNOUNCES ‘WAR 2’ RELEASE DATE: INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND 2025… The sixth film from #YRFSpyUniverse - #War2 - now has a release date… Get ready for mayhem at the #Boxoffice on 14 Aug 2025 [Thursday]… #AyanMukerji directs the film that’s produced by #YRF (sic)."

About the highly anticipated War 2, Adarsh revealed that it is set to hit theatres on August 14, 2025, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. With the release landing on a Thursday, it promises an extended four-day holiday weekend for audiences to enjoy the much-awaited sequel.
Following Pathaan and Tiger 3 in the Spy Universe, the upcoming movie to anticipate is War 2. Furthermore, there are talks about Tiger vs Pathaan, a project set to unite Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan within this continuously growing cinematic universe.
