Couple seeking divorce

The trailer for this ten-episode series starts with an argument over a video call in which we see a couple complaining about each other. Sujin (Vyaas) says to his wife “pata hi nahi hai ki pyar kya hota hai”, to which Radhika (Singh) replies “our marriage is just broken”. We are then introduced to the couple's lawyers played by Dutt and Sait.

Embracing new normal

Wakaalat From Home is a take on how people from all walks of life have been forced to embrace the new normal, even our lawyers and judges. Lockdown has led to some hilarious situations because not a lot of us are used to working from home. There are small moments in the trailer that will make you laugh simply because they are totally relatable. For instance, in one scene, we see Dutt's character get up amidst the proceedings to receive a delivery, only that he isn't wearing his pants. The horror on each character's face as they see the lawyer in his shorts makes you chuckle.

While the show has an impressive cast, it has set the bar very high for itself. This entire web series is based on video conference calls. Which means we will see no outdoors setting, or lavish sets, or rich production quality. It will just be a handful of characters looking into the camera and interacting with each other.

The responsibility to sell this concept then falls on the show's actors, director and writers. Will Wakaalat From Home manage to hold our attention for ten episodes? Will Vyas and Singh's Permanent Roommates chemistry work its magic again? Or will the web series lose its novelty factor midway? We will have to wait and watch.
