The trailer, which was supposed to release on August 11, was postponed for a day as Sanjay Dutt was detected with lung cancer on the same day.

The Trailer

The trailer picks up from the original film’s plot and begins with letting the audience know that Pooja (Pooja Bhatt) from the earlier film is no more. Her husband Ravi (Sanjay Dutt) is shown to have lost all reasons to live after the death of his beloved. He still owns a car service company (he was a cab driver in the first film) but has now shut operations. Until one fine day when Arya (Alia Bhatt) comes knocking on its office doors.

Arya is hell-bent to reach Kailash mountains and wants Ravi to drive her there. As they embark on the journey, they end picking up Vishal (Aditya Roy Kapur) who has just been released from jail. During their road trip, many truths start to unravel and Ravi realises that Arya is more than just a mere passenger in his car. Meanwhile, we are also introduced to Arya’s hidden agenda behind the trip, which seems to be exacting revenge upon a godman played by Makarand Deshpande.

High Expectations From The Film

Although the trailer is reminiscent of the original 1991 film, Sadak 2 still manages to bring something fresh to the table. Alia Bhatt looks charming as a woman out for revenge, even though she doesn't play much with the "badla" narrative, atleast in the trailer. Not to mention that she is the only living female character present in the three-minutes trailer.

The cinematic-shots and thematic style, as seen in the trailer, also look distinctly different from all the earlier Mahesh Bhatt films. Here they look more stylised. Some of the scenes border on being melodramatic, although the impeccable performance given by each actor successfully manages to hold our attention. So far, Sadak 2 looks sufficiently intriguing. All that remains to be seen is whether it lives up to the legacy of Sadak or not.
