On Her Terms: Upasana Kamineni Konidela Says Egg Freezing Is Like 'Insurance Policy'

In a conversation with social media influencer Masoom Minawala, the entrepreneur and wife of actor Ram Charan, Upasana Kamineni Konidela opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs, describing it as an 'insurance policy' that empowered her to take control of her health and emotions. Reflecting on her personal journey, Upasana revealed that this sense of control over her body is what she considers her 'biggest achievement' in life.

Taking Charge Of Her Health 

Talking about the emotional struggles she faced in the past, Upasana admitted that there were times when she let her emotions overpower her well-being, leading to stress-eating and episodes of isolation. However, now she consciously tries to avoid such coping mechanisms and feels proud of the progress that she has made.

“Now I have control over my body and my emotions. I think that is something that I have achieved and have control over now. I think I know how to deal with situations like this. If I am stressed, I can tell myself ‘hey you are stressed, deal with it, find a solution’,” she shared in the interview.

Along with the growth in her personal life, Upasana also reflected on her journey as a successful entrepreneur. She has previously spoken openly about her decision to freeze her eggs, and in this conversation, she emphasised how empowering the process can be. She clarified that egg freezing isn’t only for fertility issues but can also offer a sense of security for future.

"People think that it is only for fertility reasons that you freeze your eggs but I think you should do it to be secure. It is like an insurance policy. It is like the best insurance a woman can have for herself where she can decide when she wants to have a child on her own terms,” she explained.

Welcoming Klin Kaara Naturally

Despite choosing to freeze her eggs, Upasana welcomed her daughter, Klin Kaara Konidela, naturally and described the experience as 'amazing'.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, she shared, “My grandfather was very keen, and we were working with a doctor back then who had advised me to do that. My family was also supportive of the decision. The eggs you freeze can be used later to create organs for your child and today, medical science can take it to the next level.”
