'Gripping Story': Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor's 'Thar' Receives Positive Reviews

OTT Platforms are pushing their boundaries to present their audience with the most original and quality content. All platforms have a great lineup for the rest of the year. Streaming service Netflix has also announced the launch of amazing series that will be premiering in May.

Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Anil Kapoor starrer Thar premiered on the streaming platform on Friday, May 6. The father-son duo of Anil and Harsh Varrdhan share the screen space for the first time. The film also stars Satish Kaushik, Mukti Mohan and Akshay Oberoi.

According to the synopsis provided by Netflix, the film is about a veteran police officer Surekha Singh (Anil) who grabs an opportunity to prove his calibre when murder and a tale of “grisly torture” shake the walls of a quiet town in the desert. Fatima and Harsh essay characters of Kesar and Siddharth who are residents of the town.

The film, which is also backed by Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, is directed by Raj Singh Chaudhary; Shreya Dev Dube has handled the cinematography of the neo-Western action thriller.

Thar Film Review

The film has opened to appreciative reviews from audiences who cannot stop gushing about how wonderful the film is. A user wrote in his review, “ Thar 2022 is an excellent piece of storytelling. Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor’s performances are outstanding. It is a Bollywood Western.”

“Very good story and very good direction by Raj Singh Chaudhary,” another user wrote. They added, “Harshvardhan is a great actor. Go and watch.”

Praises were also heaped on Anil Kapoor for his performance as Surekha Singh in the film. A user wrote, “Malang, Total Dhamaal, Paagalpanti and now Thar, Anil Kapoor has proved again that he can do roles and characters of any genre with ease and his own swag.”

Another user commented, “Loved Anil Kapoor's acting. Sana Sheikh is fantastic . And Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is refreshingly good to watch. Gripping story and thrilling till the end.”

Veteran actor Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor's close friend watched the film at the special screening hosted on eve of the film’s release on May 5, Thursday. Kher in his tweet wrote, “Watched Thar! Excellent! Beautifully shot. Intriguing! Very good performances by the whole cast. My friend Satish Kaushik is superb. My other best friend Anil Kapoor is mind-blowing & wonderfully restrained! But it is Harsh Kapoor who is the heart of the film.”
