'Qala' Star Swastika Mukherjee Reinvents Herself As Brave On Her Birthday

Mukherjee decided to redefine herself and wrote, “I’m making my own from here on. Brave, efficient, phenomenal. That’s US!”

The actor added, “Here’s to making our own labels, here’s to turning 42. Happy birthday to me”.

Mukherjee signed off by writing, “Kyunki, yeh ek zindagi kaafi nahin! (Because, this one life is not enough!)”

Swastika Mukherjee Birthday

Swastika Mukherjee is the daughter of the late Bengali actor Santu Mukhopadhyay. She made her acting debut on the Bengali television series Devdasi and was most recently seen in the Netflix Tripti Dimri starrer Qala.

Mukherjee portrays Urmilla Manjushree in the film, Dimri’s character’s domineering mother.

In an interview, the actor spoke about reading the script for the film and the fraught mother-daughter relationship that is the focus of the film.

She wrote that she felt “helpless” reading the script and she couldn’t comprehend the tumultuous relationship between the mother and daughter.

Mukherjee said, “I kept asking her to write something else instead of this. Can’t we see them in a better space? Because I felt so helpless.”

Mukherjee described herself as “very hungry, greedy” as an actor and wanted to work on a film that made her feel uncomfortable. She said it was “the only way” to grow.

Mukherjee’s first leading role was in the 2004 Bengali thriller film Mastan and made her Bollywood debut in the 2008 film Mumbai Cutting. She was also seen in the Bollywood remake of Fault in Our Stars, titled Dil Bechara.

Mukherjee also starred in two web series this year, both Escaype Live and Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach, premiered on Disney+ Hotstar.

Mukherjee also starred in a Bengali film this year titled Shrimati. She and Soham Chakraborty were in lead roles and the film released on June 8, 2022.
