Watch 18-Year-Old Sushmita Sen Preparing Her UN Speech In This Throwback Video

Sushmita Sen old speech: A video of Sushmita Sen from when she was 18 years old has gone viral. In it, the former Miss Universe can be seen preparing for her United Nations speech in 1994. She was crowned Miss Universe the same year.

Sen, in the video clip shared by an Instagram user @notwhyral, can be seen seated on a reading table with books surrounding her and writing on a notepad as she was focused on preparing her speech. The video features Sen dressed in a formal green blazer, rehearsing for the UN speech. In the clip she can be heard talking about receiving a lot of opportunities at a very young age. She had mentioned in the video how important the UN speech was for her because if "that works out fine then just being an active member of the UN is by itself a great job".

Praising the 18-year-old's grit and determination, fans commented on her "grace" and "aura", saying "She is a Hollywood material". One fan called her "pretty" while another confessed, "Always smitten by her." Sen, now 45, is the first Indian to win the competition and has since predominantly worked in Hindi films.

Recently, in another video that surfaced online, Sen was seen reciting a poem which she had penned after she won the Miss India title in 1994. She recited the poem: "If all my pains and all my tears, and all that I learnt throughout these years, could lift a fallen head, could lighten a darken mind, then I should think that not in vain, was my service to mankind."

After trying out her hands in modelling, she began her career as an actor with Mahesh Bhatt's Dastak in the year 1996. She has starred in several superhit films. On the work front, the Main Hoon Na actor Sen was last seen in the crime-drama web series Aarya in 2020. She played the role of a single mother and garnered a lot of appreciation for her performance in the web series. She is currently working on its sequel.
