On a Sunday morning, the Bollywood industry woke up to ecstatic news -- Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar opted for surrogacy and became a single father. Karan Johar has had twins -- Roohi and Yash.

According to media reports, Karan chose the same hospital where one of his best friends Shah Rukh Khan also had his third child AbRam through surrogacy. Karan’s kids were born last month in Mumbai's Masrani Hospital.
Hearing the news, Shah Rukh Khan expressed a lot of joy and heartily congratulated the new father. He said, "It's a personal moment. Let's respect the privacy. Of course we all are very happy," at the Mijwan Summer 2017 fashion show, TOI reports.
The boy is named after Mr Johar's father Yash Johar, who was one of the most celebrated filmmakers of Bollywood, and who died in 2004. The baby girl’s name is rearranged from his mother's name Hiroo.
Karan has promised to put his children above all else and has mentioned that his "most caring and supportive" mother will be there for the children along with his "friends who are family".
The bold filmmaker is already adored by many for his openness about his sexuality. In fact, he is probably the first celeb from the Bollywood industry who has openly accepted and voiced his sexuality.
Johar had spoken about his deep desire of becoming a father at the launch of his memoir - 'An Unsuitable Boy' in January.

Kiran Rao, who also had her first-born, Azad, with husband Aamir Khan, via surrogacy, said, “That’s just wonderful. He deserves every happiness that life can give him. I am so happy to hear this news.”
