Sonu Nigam recently addressed reports claiming that stones and bottles were hurled at him during his performance at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025 on March 22. The singer took to Instagram on March 25 to clarify the situation. In his post, he clarified that the concert was briefly paused after a vape was thrown on stage, hitting one of his band members. He addressed the reports, stating that no stones or bottles were hurled, contrary to media claims.
Sonu Nigam Reveals What Was Actually Thrown on Stage
In his note, Sonu Nigam wrote, "Nothing like the hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar's chest, and that's when I was informed about it."
Following the incident, the singer immediately warned the audience that if anything similar happened again, the concert would be stopped. He recalled how the crowd listened and respected his request.
He added, "I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happens again. The only thing hurled on stage after that was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie."
Despite the brief interruption, the concert continued smoothly, and several videos from the event quickly went viral. One particular moment caught fans’ attention when a pink bunny headband was thrown onto the stage. Instead of reacting negatively, Sonu Nigam picked it up and wore it, winning the hearts of the audience.
As seen in a widely shared video, he put on the Bunny band and also addressed the students directly during the concert, urging them to be mindful and enjoy the event without causing any disruption. He was heard saying, "Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I'm not asking you to not enjoy yourself, but please aisa na kariye (I've come here for you so that we can all have a good time). I'm not asking you to not enjoy it, but please do not do this.”
