Sonam Kapoor Applauds Film Heritage Foundation's Efforts Towards Film Restoration

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) for "restoring and preserving our cinematic heritage."

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) for "restoring and preserving our cinematic heritage." She also applauded FHF director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur and his team for their amazing efforts.

The actor had shared a video on Instagram in which she praised the Film Heritage Foundation for their work. Film Heritage Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the conservation, preservation and restoration of Indian cinema.

"My decision to associate with the Film Heritage Foundation is a string testament to how I strongly feel about preserving our heritage for the future to see, appreciate and love," she wrote in the post's caption. She also shared a series of pictures revealing the films that have been restored by the foundation.

Besides supporting the foundation's efforts, she urged everyone to have a look at their work.

Which films that have been restored by the Film Heritage Foundation?

Sonam Kapoor's latest Instagram post gave her fans a glimpse into the Foundation's 'Film Preservation & Restoration' workshop of 2019. The short video showcased how people were repairing films at the workshop.

The post further revealed the films that have been restored by the FHF. This included Kaagaz Ke Phool, Manthan (1976), Iruvar (1997), Major Saab (1998) and Dil Chahta Hai (2001).

The FHF is also currently involved in a project to digitise 26 films directed by Mani Ratnam to 8K. These include highly acclaimed films such as Thalapathy (1991), Roja (1992), Thiruda Thiruda (1993), Bombay (1995), and Yuva (2004).

Recently, the Film Heritage Foundation director had spoken about the "Aspects and Importance of Film Archiving and Restoration."

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor penned a note for actor Swara Bhaskar on her birthday. “Dear Behen, we just spoke a day before and I realised that our friendship is a godsend. Sakshi, Bindiya and Chandrika… of every person you’ve essayed, my favourite remains the one you are off-screen. May your voice only amplify with time, love you lots. Happy happy birthday, Swaru,” she wrote on her Instagram post.

The two actors had acted together in films such as Raanjhanaa, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Veere Di Wedding.
