Sobhita Dhulipala Stars In Dev Patel’s Debut Directorial. 5 Things To Know

Netflix has bought the rights of Monkey Man and secured a roughly $30 million deal with Dev Patel for the British actor's directorial debut film. It also described the movie as "John Wick in Mumbai".

Sobhita Dhulipala and Dev Patel: Bollywood actor Sobhita Dhulipala has bagged her first Hollywood project Monkey Man with Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel.

Patel will make his debut as a director with the project, titled Monkey Man, and the Maid In Heaven actor, Dhulipala, has said to have already shot for the film in Indonesia for four months last year during the pandemic. She stated that it was “incredibly wholesome and introspective”.

1. The film focuses on Patel's journey as a man who would emerge from prison to take revenge on those who had wronged him in the past. The movie will drop on the streaming platform in 2022.

2. Dhulipala told Hindustan Times that she always wanted to work in Hollywood as she chose to "pour my blood and soul into it." She has previously worked in a Malayalam film, a Telugu-Hindi bilingual movie, a Tamil blockbuster, a Hindi film and the second season of an OTT show Maid In Heaven.

3. Dhulipala also revealed that she had auditioned for the role almost five years ago in 2016. “I remember, it was on the day I was leaving for the Cannes Film Festival with my first film Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016). All these years later and many turns in the journey of the film and our individual lives later, looks like we belonged with each other all along,” she exclaimed.
