Producer Bhushan Kumar in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla confirmed that the biopic on late choreographer Saroj-Khan is in the writing stage, while the film will be created and directed by Hansal Mehta.

Nirmala Nagpal is the real name of Bollywood's ace choreographer Saroj Khan who made a remarkable contribution to the dance industry of Bollywood.
With a career spanning over 5 decades, the late choreographer Saroj Khan has choreographed over 300 films and over 2000 songs in her extremely respected career. She started her career at the age of three years as a child artist Shyama in the film Nazarana, and later as a background dancer in the 1950s.
The ace choreographer passed away in 2020 due to cardiac arrest.
T-series legacy holder and producer Bhushan Kumar revealed in an interview with Pinkvilla that they will soon be bringing legendary choreographer Saroj Khan's biopic in an episodic format and has joined hands with filmmaker Hansal Mehta.
Kumar said that the biopic is in the developing stage as there is a lot of writing required in OTT platforms and more writing is required if it is a biopic. He also said that Hansal Mehta is researching the life of the late choreographer and will leave no stone unturned as the film will cover many unknown facets of the choreographer's life.

Kumar talked about the inspiration behind making the biopic as it was to pay an ode to the contribution of the legendary choreographer to the dancing community. He opined that as the world dances on the steps created by Khan, very few are aware of the efforts behind her journey to reach the position of best in her field.
Earlier, ABCD director and choreographer Remo D'Souza recalled working with the late choreographer in an interview with ANI and said observing her work style and learning from it was an opportunity. D'Souza also claimed that she mentioned to him that if ever a biopic is made on her, he would make it.
Saroj Khan has made almost all the top actors groove on her steps and shined through choreographing some iconic movies infamous for their dance numbers such as Devdas, Mohra, Mr India, Chandani, Ram Lakhan, Tezaab, DDLJ, and many more, while she last worked with Madhuri Dixit in Kalank.
Bhushan Kumar is the busiest producer in Bollywood currently as two of his feature projects Yariyaan 2 and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal are lined up to screen on big films, he is also gearing up for his OTT debut bringing Kaala, which will run against the backdrop of black money.
