What We Know

The plot details for Red, White & Royal Wedding have not yet been revealed, but the title suggests that the story will follow Alex and Henry as they take the next step in their relationship, possibly leading to marriage.

According to reports, Uma Thurman is expected to return as President Ellen Claremont. The first look teaser art features a slice of wedding cake decorated with U.S. and U.K. flags and a “No. 2” candle, referencing the iconic cake scene from the first film.

Red, White, & Royal Wedding will be directed by Jamie Babbit, known for cult classics like But I’m a Cheerleader. In a statement, she said, “After directing But I’m a Cheerleader in my 20s, I’m thrilled to be back in the queer love universe of Red, White & Royal Wedding. We all need this kind of optimism, fantasy, and gay joy. I'm thrilled to work with this brilliant team.”

The screenplay is a collaboration between Matthew López, Casey McQuiston, and Gemma Burgess, with McQuiston being the author of the original bestselling novel. López, who directed the first adaptation, continues to be involved as producer and co-writer. "It’s been a blast to dream up the next chapter of their story as a producer and co-writer, and I’m delighted to be passing the directing baton to Jamie, whose vision and sense of humour will be a perfect match for our film," López said in a statement.

Red, White & Royal Wedding is expected to continue exploring themes of love, identity, and commitment in the context of modern public life. The film will stream exclusively on Prime Video, though an official release date is yet to be announced.
