What is the Zomato assault case?

Hitesha Chandranee, a content creator, accused the Zomato delivery person of assaulting her. She posted videos on her social media showing blood on her nose.

Zomato issued a statement apologising for the same and agreed to investigate the case. The food delivery service responded, via written statement, to the incident and said, “We deeply regret the incident that happened between Hitesha Chandranee and the delivery partner in Bengaluru. We can assure you this is not the experience our delivery universe upholds. The case is currently under investigation by the police. We have extended our full support to help resolve this with our team on ground being on top of it.”

Later, the delivery executive, Kamaraj was suspended and refutes the allegations made by Chandranee.

"She refused to pay after accepting the order as I was late for the delivery and asked it for free," the accused told ANI.

“She started hitting me with slippers and at some point in time while safeguarding myself, my left hand touched her right hand and the ring which she worn hit her nose and it started bleeding,” he added.

Responding to Kamaraj’s statement, the beauty influencer went on record to deny the allegations. Chandranee told NDTV that her delivery was to arrive in 59 minutes that day but it didn’t. “I was telling them – stop bluffing, we use our hard-earned money. I had full right to fight with customer support when I am paying. I kept saying either cancel my order or do me a favour by making it free.”
