Actor Parineeti Chopra affirms that she doesn’t feel “constantly overshadowed” by her sister and actor Priyanka Chopra, who joined the entertainment industry 20 years before her.
The actor, who recently appeared in three back-to-back films, isn’t bothered by Priyanka’s stardom, in fact, she considered her a mentor.
In a recent interview with ETimes, the actor talked about how people are affected by their sibling’s fame and asserted, “If you are going to be constantly overshadowed by someone, you might have a problem. But I have never had that problem,”
“I am proud that Priyanka is my sister. Look who’s sister I am! Why would I have a problem as long as I have my own identity which I have certainly achieved through my work?” Parineeti added.
The Saina actor also opened up about her relationship with Priyanka Chopra and how she guided the former in her acting career. “When I was not doing my best work, she used to tell me that I needed to choose roles that prove me as an actor,” she told the interviewer.
Chopra, who admitted she made a few wrong choices along the way, added that her older sister is happy after watching the actor in her three recent films. Parineeti also mentioned earlier that her cousin Priyanka helped her in embracing the character of Saina Nehwal in the sports star’s biopic. Priyanka who has essayed the role of Mary Kom in a biopic, told Parineeti to not use prosthetics and just adapt the body language of the badminton player.
In a week’s span, Parineeti Chopra appeared in the sports biopic Saina, the remake of the Hollywood film The Girl on the Train, which released on Netflix, and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.
Priyanka Chopra, on the other hand, has largely moved base to Hollywood, where the actor has featured in numerous projects. Recently, she appeared in the Netflix films, The White Tiger and We Can Be Heroes, Now, Chopra has begun shooting Text for You and Citadel.
