Netrikann release: Tamil thriller Netrikann, featuring Nayanthara, will have a direct OTT release. The film was due to hit the screens last year but was later postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is directed and written by Milind Rau and produced by Vignesh Shivan.
On July 21, the Southern actor shared a new poster to confirm the film's OTT release. The thriller movie features her as a visually impaired person in the lead role. The release date of the film will be announced soon.
Here are ten things to know about Nayanthara's next release:
1. Netrikann is to skip theatres and heading for a direct-OTT release, as per an announcement made on Wednesday. The film's release was postponed due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Nayanthara was last seen in director-actor RJ Balaji's Mookuthi Amman which also had an OTT release.
3. Thus, Netrikann will be Nayanthara's second OTT release in a row.
4. The actor also has Baahubali: Before The Beginning, which was reported to be her digital debut, in the pipeline. The series will tell the back story of Sivagami Devi. The role was originally played by Ramya Krishnan in the Baahubali films. If the news about Nayanthara’s inclusion in this project is true, it would mark her web-series debut. An official confirmation is still awaited.
5. As per reports, Netrikann is an adaptation of the Korean thriller Blind which tells the story of a visually challenged woman who testifies for a hit-and-run case and then is confronted by the killer.
6. Nayanthara is all set to play a character who loses her eyesight after a road accident. The film stars Ajmal Ameer as the antagonist. Apart from them, Manikandan Pattambi and Saran have also been cast in important roles.
7. The film also marks the debut of Nayanthara’s boyfriend Vignesh Shivn as producer. He also took to his Twitter account to share the poster and wrote, "Happy & proud be associated !!! Release date very very soon (sic)."

9. Netrikkan, referred as the third eye on Lord Shiva’s forehead, is also the title of a hit Rajinikanth film. He won critical acclaim for his dual roles of father and son in the film.
10. Nayanthara is currently shooting for Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe.
