Decoupled release date: Is it a marriage or is it a divorce? Arya and Shruti attempt to navigate a messy transition between living together while going through a separation in a new web series titled Decoupled, the trailer for which released Wednesday. Starring R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla, the dramedy marks the actors’ first on-screen pairing and has created buzz among fans online.
Journalist and writer Manu Joseph has created the show, which packs many witty punches and sardonic clapbacks that run back and forth between Arya and Shruti, Madhavan and Chawla’s characters respectively. On their journey to divorce as their marriage falls apart, it appears from the trailer the two have decided to call for a temporary truce for the sake of their daughter.
Both strong personalities, Arya and Shruti are adapting to their circumstances despite differences, as their relationship hangs by a thread. ‘But isn’t that precisely what marriage is?’ a family elder asks them.
The show “is about a man who ails from chronic objectivity, and how he survives the last days of his marriage and the nation he offends,” Joseph said in a tweet, sharing the trailer.
Decoupled has been directed by Hardik Mehta, whose credits include writing for OTT series Paatal Lok and film Trapped.
