Mira Rajput and Shahid Kapoor got married in 2015. The couple now has two children, Misha and Zain Kapoor. In a recent Instagram live session, Mira Rajput talked about how she and her husband take care of their children in response to a question asked by a follower.

“I read something the other day which said, ‘Don’t treat dad as a babysitter, treat him like a parent.’ By that, what you mean is dad is not going to be there when mom needs time off. Dad is going to do what dad does, he is not going to fill in for mom because he has his own role” said Mira Rajput on parenting.

The 26-year-old went on to say that she divides all the childcare responsibilities with husband Shahid Kapoor and believes in treating him as a parent and not a mere babysitter. According to her, children should “have their own equation” with each parent as this will help them build a good relationship. Rajput also said that children have different bonds with each parent and the best way to strengthen the relationship is for each parent to spend more time with them.

“My kids are totally different with me than they are with Shahid. They enjoy doing different things with him and they enjoy doing different things with me, '' she added. Rajput also said that there are times when she takes a time off and her husband takes good care of their children. “That really helps with the bonding of the kids and their dad. And the kids and me, we just get time to recharge” Rajput said

In 2017, Rajput was in news for her critical comment about working mothers raising their children as “puppies” which raised furore on social media. "I am a homemaker and wear that label with pride. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour with Misha and then rush off to work. Why did I have her? Misha is not a puppy. I want to be there for her," said Rajput.
