Composer Raam Laxman died at the age of 78 due to cardiac arrest on May 22 at his residence, news agency PTI confirmed. Amar Patil, Laxman’s son confirmed the news of his father’s death to PTI saying, “He had taken the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, six days ago. There was no problem at that time but when he came home, he developed weakness. His parameters were dropping. Doctors were attending at home. He passed away at around 2 am on Saturday. He had a cardiac arrest.”

Singing legend Lata Mangeshkar took to Twitter expressing her condolences and grief saying, “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki bahut guni aur lokpriya sangeetkar Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) ji ka swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua.” ( I felt deeply saddened by the news of Raam Laxman's demise)

Mangeshkar went on praising the late composer in her tweet for being a good person. She also stated that she worked with him on many songs which became very famous.

Actor Salman Khan also gave his regards to Raam Laxman with his tweet. He expressed his condolences to Laxman’s family. “Ram Laxman, music director of my successful films like maine pyaar kiya, patthar ke phool, hum saath saath hain, hum apke hain kaun has sadly passed away. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to the bereaved family”, he tweeted.

Who was Raam Laxman?

Laxman was an Indian music composer. He was born with the name of Vijay Patil and adopted the name of Laxman in the Raam Laxman duo. When his partner, Surendra was no more in 1976, he took upon the full name in honour of his partner.

Laxman composed songs for more than 200 movies in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri language. He was a part of the Indian music industry for more than four decades.
