Khushi Kapoor in ‘Mom 2’?

Boney Kapoor made a major announcement about his next project during the recent IIFA 2025 event. He revealed plans for a sequel to Mom, the 2017 film that was Sridevi’s last on-screen appearance. This time, the film might star his younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor. While speaking to the media on the green carpet, Boney Kapoor shared his admiration for his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, and their dedication to carrying forward their mother Sridevi’s legacy.

Talking about Khushi’s future projects, he said, “I have watched all of Khushi’s films. ‘Archies,’ ‘Loveyappa,’ and ‘Nadaaniyaan.’. I am planning a film with her too after ‘No Entry.’ It would be a movie with Khushi. It could be ‘Mom 2.’.”

Boney further expressed his hopes for his daughters, saying, “She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeed in this same level of perfection.” He also addressed rumours about a biopic on Sridevi, clarifying that he has no plans for one. 

About Sridevi’s Film Mom

Released in 2017, Mom featured Sridevi in a powerful role as a mother seeking justice for her daughter, played by Sajal Aly. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the film was widely praised for Sridevi’s stellar performance. Her role left a lasting impact, earning her a National Award for Best Actress.

Meanwhile, Khushi Kapoor’s latest film, Nadaaniyaan, has recently premiered on Netflix. Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the film features a fresh ensemble cast, including Ibrahim Ali Khan, Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhry, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj. Speaking about his "talented" children, Boney expressed his pride, saying, "My son Arjun (Kapoor) has done a variety of roles, from comedy to villain. I feel blessed to have talented children. Anshula has immense talent too; she is doing great. It is only me who is struggling, so wish me luck that I get all the success I am looking for. I have been struggling for the past 52 years. I don't think I have peaked yet."

He also shared a piece of advice for Janhvi, Khushi, Arjun, and Anshula, urging them to stay dedicated to their work. "I would tell them, 'Do what you do with full heart. Be sincere, be honest, and give your best.'"
