Archies Comics comes to India, as Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda are all set to make their debut in this live-action musical adaptation by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti productions.
Pictures have gone viral on the internet, that showcase the trio on set. Khushi Kapoor is seen in attire that resembled Betty Cooper. Looks like Veronica Lodge will be played by Suhana Khan and Archie Andrews will be portrayed by Agastya Nanda. This will soon be brought to our screens through Netflix, by Tiger Baby Production house of Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti.
Archies Comics Indian Adaptation
Zoya Akhtar took to Instagram last year, announcing her new venture with Netflix with this Indian adaptation of the Archie comics stating. She wrote: “Archie and the Crew are about to get Down and Desi! ‘The Archies’ is a coming-of-age musical drama directed by me. Coming soon to Netflix.”
Archie comics have already been made into various films and series, including Riverdale. Archies Andrews has been a popular character in pop culture, and no introduction is required to this series.
The upcoming film will be marking the debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Sridevi-Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, all hail from Bollywood backgrounds. Along with the trio, Vedang Raina, will also reportedly be a part of this movie.
Pictures from film set have gone viral on social media and reports claim that this film will be set in the 1960s, and will introduce Riverdale to the newer generations in India. This film will be produced by Sharad Devarajan of Graphic India, along with co-producers Tiger Baby films.
This marks a first for Zoya Akhtar as she has never launched a star kid before. Staying true to her character, Khushi Kapoor was seen sporting a hairstyle resembling that of Bettys from the comics, in Dharma Production CEO Apoorva Mehta’s 50th birthday last week. Pictures hint at the filming going in full-swing and can be soon expected on our screens. Further details are awaited.
