Kesariya song, which was filmed in Varanasi, follows the romance between Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and Isha (Alia Bhatt) from Brahmastra. The song is sung by Arijit Singh, whose rich voice brings the beloved composer, instrumentalist, and guitarist Pritam's melodic composition to life. Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote the lyrics.

The lyrics, which Ranbir Kapoor's Shiva dedicates to Alia Bhatt's Isha in the song, are, "Kaajal ki, siyaahi se likhi, hain tu ne jaane, kitnon ki love storiya (don't know how many love stories have you written with ink made of kohl)."

While most people enjoyed the love song, some cringed at certain parts, especially certain questionable words in the lyrics. Social media users shared a number of memes in response to the song's use of the Hinglish word 'love storiya.'
